Tributes to TIMS
Alumni comments, from Mrs. Gibbs
“Dear Mrs. Mc Clean,
When we first heard our good friend Heike Boettcher talk about your school so favorably we thought that it sounded very inviting and very tempting. Yet we were unsure whether it made sense to have Liam go through a change of schools for just one year. When I first met with you—you may remember this—I said something to the extent of…’it would have to really be worth it’
Let me just say this: It really WAS worth it…in so many ways!!! There was not a single day throughout the entire year when I picked up an unhappy or frustrated or aggressive Liam. He always looked forward to his day ahead being greeted warmly by one of your staff. Everybody on your staff knew his name from the beginning. I thought that was very remarkable.
Liam loved the learning opportunities that the materials and instructions offered to him. He found some good friends and enjoyed having meals together. He learned to be especially patient with little kids who did not know the rules yet and to help them. He loved recess outside, especially playing soccer and gym classes with Herr Wirth were a special treat.
And most of all he loved his teachers. The most cheerful, positive and sincere teachers whom I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Mrs. da Conceicao who is incredibly helpful and friendly and Mrs. Trasimeno-Somers whose warm and genuine interest and enthusiasm encouraged Liam to want to learn everything he could.
You are very fortunate to have such talented, generous and loving teachers on your staff.
We sense that you also contribute a lot to the friendly and pleasant environment of your school because you have a good feeling for what kind of people your school needs. We wish you and everybody on your staff all the best for their future and for the future of TIMS. Kind regards,
The Gibbs Family.
Brian Gibbs (PRTM) Germany
Dear Kathy,
I was deeply impressed by the friendly, cheerful way in which staff always welcomed pupils and parents alike. Even fathers who may only have been able to drop by from time to time were greeted by name and with the same interest and warmth as the pupils. I often commented on how creative the instruction was, and felt particularly heartened by the evident enthusiasm and joy with which Liam would recount his day’s adventures.
We both would like to thank you and your staff for creating and maintaining such a magical atmosphere for the children. Obviously much work and coordination takes place behind the scenes, but you and your staff deserve a great deal of respect and appreciation for the magic you are able to perform with so many children.
With kind regards,
Brian Gibbs” (PRTM) Germany
A quote about TIMS from the Dwayne and Traci Norris family. (Frankfurt Lions Ice Hockey Club)
“Learning, Love, Laughter—
All combined to make
one great school. Our
kids loved it here,
and so do we!”
“It was fun even though there was school work to do!” (Coale Norris age 9)
from the Matteo and Manon Zanarini (Alitalia) Tokyo
“TIMS has certainly made a big and positive impact on our son’s development. We highly recommend the Montessori system of teaching which has allowed our son to enjoy, not only his time in kindergarten but take full advantage of a great way of learning. The teachers have proven to be very caring and the general atmosphere at TIMS is the envy of many other international schools. We have no hesitation of recommending the school to anyone considering the move to Frankfurt”.
from the Matassa Family (Alitalia) Rome
“Can you believe it? Marco is one of the best English speakrs in the class! But, he told me, his teacher is not so beautiful as Miss Patty…He will always remember the wonderful experience he had in your school…such a warm, lovely atmosphere for learning. Neither will I! How friendly you all have been when I was sick last Spring. Thank you! Please, keep in touch! And if you happen to come to Rome, you‘ll be welcome to my house.
from Michael Knapp, Anchorage,Alaska
“My name is Michael Knapp and I was doing some work the other day and came across the TIMS website. It caught my attention because, when my family lived in Oberursel from 1975 – 1978 (from age 5 – 8) I attended the Taunus International Montessori School. In the back of my mind, I suppose I thought that the school no longer existed, so I’m happy to see that it looks like I’m wrong.
My favorite activity was taking apart and reassembling wooden map puzzles of continents. I work quite regularly with spatial data & satellite imagery in my job and also create quite a few maps. I know that my experiences in Montessori helped foster much of the curiosity that I’d like to think that I still have today.
I’m so glad to see you’re all still around. Thank you!

“Liebe Frau Mc Clean,
gäbe es einen Nobelpreis für Kinder, Sie hätten ihn tausendmal verdient. In Dankbarkeit, Sie gefunden zu haben. In liebe, Joshua Passat und Familie“
from David and Elaine Loe, England
“The Loe family have appreciated and cherished the caring school environment that you have provided for both Genevieve and Alicia over the seven years that we have known you. You have given our daughters not only a wonderful start to their education but wonderful memories. The school is truly a community where every child (and parent) is made to feel valued and important and part of the team. You provide something very special here and we value this immensely. With both our sincere thanks, Elaine and David Loe.
