TIMS – Taunus International Montessori School
Curriculum

Curriculum

The TIMS curriculum combines Montessori foundations with language, movement, music, culture, outdoor learning and enrichment. Children learn through hands-on experience, repetition and meaningful choice.

Montessori foundations

At the centre of our curriculum is the Montessori work cycle. Children choose purposeful activities from a prepared environment, work independently or in small groups and gradually move from simple to more complex materials.

English immersion and German language

English is the shared language of the school day. Children build vocabulary through real communication, classroom routines, songs, stories and interaction with teachers and friends.

Weekly German sessions help children gain confidence with the language of their host country and support families living in Germany.

Music, movement and specialist sessions

Weekly music and physical education sessions support rhythm, coordination, confidence and joy. These experiences complement the Montessori classroom and help children develop in a balanced way.

Library time and early literacy

Books and stories are an important part of language development. Library time encourages children to listen, imagine, ask questions and develop a positive relationship with reading.

Additional enrichment

TIMS may offer additional learning programmes and enrichment such as Train with Brain, depending on the current school year and confirmed programme. These should be added in the CMS only after TIMS confirms current details.

Practical Life

Care of self, care of the environment, coordination, order and independence.

Sensorial Learning

Materials that refine the senses and support observation, comparison and classification.

Language

Listening, speaking, vocabulary, early literacy, reading and writing foundations.

Mathematics

Concrete materials that help children understand quantity, number, sequence and early operations.

Culture & World

Geography, nature, science, celebrations and respect for different cultures.

Creative Expression

Art, music, movement and storytelling as part of whole-child development.
